NUMA (EXHIBITION)

The project NUMA brings together the work of three artists — Ekaterina Nizamova, Elena Camacho, and Lucia Granados — whose voices intertwine into a single, melodic narrative reflecting on the nature of existence and the primordial foundations of the world around us.

Drawing from personal experience and inner sensibility, the artists seek to capture the essence of universal forces and articulate them through metaphor and artistic interpretation.

The exhibition’s title is no coincidence. It derives from the ancient Greek word pneuma, meaning “vital force,” “life breath,” or “spirit.” NUMA — a neologism created specifically for this project — emphasizes a distinctly feminine perspective on the structure of the cosmos.

For Ekaterina Nizamova, the point of origin lies in one of the most fundamental human processes: breathing. Breath becomes a driving force capable of generating new forms and meanings, uniting the mutable phenomena and objects that compose our world.
Elena Camacho explores the depth of inner strength, revealed most fully in moments of slow, honest dialogue with oneself.
Lucia Granados, in turn, returns to humanity’s first “home”: the sacred image of woman as a symbol of origin and worldly beginnings.

Despite the diversity of structures, symbols, and essences present in these abstract works, each image conveys a profound sense of stillness and quiet — qualities of particular importance in contemporary life. Today, silence has become a coveted necessity for inhabitants of megacities, overwhelmed by constant acoustic, visual, and informational fatigue.

Through a nuanced chromatic range, dynamic forms, and the organic interweaving of lines and planes, the artists construct a distinct visual grammar that invites reflection on the nature of creation and the perception of both spiritual and material realms.

How do we attune ourselves to a dialogue with the inner self?
What sensations emerge in the moment when breath is held before sound?
Where can one find an oasis of serenity and silence?
What does NUMA mean to you?

The artists invite viewers to seek answers to these questions — and to return to an authentic beginning.
